P-EBT Outreach

Greetings,

We have good news! As you may have heard, Oklahoma was recently approved to operate the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program. P-EBT replaces lost free or reduced-price school meal benefits due to school closures this spring. Families who were certified for free or reduced-price lunch and families in schools or districts that provided no-cost meals to all students will receive $250 in benefits per eligible child. Though families are not required to apply to receive P-EBT, outreach efforts are vitally important to ensure Oklahoma families are aware of this new program.

We are asking you to provide messaging to families to inform them about this benefit. Ensuring families are aware of and utilize this benefit will support struggling families and help drive local economic activity.

Families will receive benefits one of two ways:

SNAP and other current EBT households will have benefits automatically loaded onto their existing EBT card; or

Non-SNAP/EBT households will receive a new EBT card automatically mailed to their home address. The envelope may not clearly indicate the contents.

We created a web page (www.hungerfreeok.org/pebt) to serve as a point for information on this program. The page includes an overview of the program, frequently asked questions, and sample outreach text in English, Spanish, Burmese, and Zomi for your organization to use to help spread the word.

I have attached the sample outreach text, a flyer in English, and a flyer in Spanish.

We appreciate your team’s continued help to connect resources to families that are struggling with food insecurity during these very tough times. We are here to support your efforts. Together we can protect Oklahoma children.

Sincerely,

Devin Schroeder
